Aiki II

Traditional Budo Culture and Aiki II

In Aiki II, a child member continues to cultivate the physical, mental, and spiritual fundamentals gained in Aiki I only this is done more through Aikido's tactical architectures and less through developmental games. Additionally, Aiki II participants are more fully introduced to and held accountable for traditional dojo culture.

Combining training in Aikido's tactical architectures with accountability for traditional dojo culture allows child members to further develop their virtuous self by giving it depth and transportability. Aiki II training undertakes this further refinement of the self within an intense but controlled field of experience, where a child's sense of self-responsibility can mature in a safe and healthy manner.

Aiki II Instruction

As with our Aiki I program, our Aiki II program takes advantage of our adult dojo members, who seek to attend the class in order to tip the teacher-student ratio into a favorable position. This allows Aiki II members to have the benefits of group training while providing them with the benefits of private instruction. More importantly, since the children will be training in martial technique, populating the mat with our adult members allows for a level of supervision that guarantees training remains safe at all times.

Our Aiki II program is a precursor to training in Aikido at Senshin Center as an adult member. As such, Aiki II members that have gained Hakama Responsibility are permitted and encouraged to train in all of our adult classes (but for Weapons II).

Joining Aiki II

Most children must commence their training in the dojo in the Aiki I program. From there, parents and/or children that would like to commence Aiki II training should make such interests known to Valadez Sensei. Thereupon, Sensei will set out to determine the design and development of participation in the Aiki II program.
